Finding Real Peace
Peace is a common theme that is discussed and sought in most societies and nations today.
The peace that most people seek is a freedom from conflict, based on acceptance and tolerating one another, no matter what differences we have. Christians are exhorted to “live peaceably with all men” (Romans 12:18), but we cannot sacrifice truth in the pursuit of peace.
In John 14:27, Jesus told His disciples, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.”
While the world seeks peace their own way apart from God, believers know that real peace starts with being reconciled with God. Real peace—God’s peace—is only found in a restored relationship with God in which we trust Him to sustain us regardless of our circumstances.
No matter how bad life gets, we know God is still in control. And as we continue to trust God, bringing everything to Him in prayer, He will give us the peace that passes all understanding.
